Staying Current with Learn@UW Tools

UW Madison’s Learn@UW suite of tools continues to expand and evolve in response to feedback from faculty and staff at UW Madison. Spring semester, new tools offered include:

TopHat has arrived on the scene to provide a web based student response system.   As of January 2016, UW Madison instructors can use TopHat at no charge. To learn more about this interactive assessment tool, contact Jenny McBurney at MERIT, or visit the help tutorials posted online.

Kaltura Media Space provides a repository for video used for instructional use.   Kaltura now includes “CaptureSpace Lite” that allows webcam recording from the desktop.
To learn more about Kaltura and CaptureSpace Live, visit the web site and view the tutorials posted online.  Contact Jim Jonas with questions about copyright and fair use; Catherine Stephens lends help with integrating Kaltura links into D2L or Moodle.

MERIT staff continue to partner with DoIT academic technology and provide instructional design and guidance to faculty and staff in the use of web based tools for teaching and learning.  Contact Catherine Stephens, MERIT’s Education Technology Consultant to learn more or to schedule time for consultation.
