Instructional Services
MERIT instructional services are designed to support the attainment of course goals through technology integration. MERIT staff provide faculty consulting and instruction for the adoption of new tools across program areas in the School of Education.

In addition to support from MERIT, other support options are available to School of Education instructors and listed below.
- On-Demand Training Videos
- In May 2020, Learn@UW-Madison delivered several remote-learning training sessions.
- Live Training
- Throughout the academic year, Learn@UW-Madison offers live training sessions. During the COVID season, this training is happening remotely. To attend any of the several sessions, refer to the DoIT AT Events Calendar. Courses are usually posted at least one month before they are offered. Typically, sessions are offered the two weeks after spring semester concludes, the two weeks before the fall semester commences, and the two weeks before spring semester commences.

Technology Tools
H5P is an online tool that allows instructors to create dynamic, interactive learning objects. Here, a slide deck and reading comprehension quiz are shown.
Instructors can embed quizzes directly into video lectures using Kaltura MediaSpace, the video editing program chosen by UW-Madison.
Canvas integrates with multiple tools to provide endless display and interaction options. Pressbooks, shown here, is a popular Open Educational Resource creator that works well with Canvas.
An online tool called Padlet can be integrated into Canvas for lively and organized online discussion, allowing for text, video, and link posts.
Course-Related Instruction
School of Education faculty, staff, and students, and area teachers are invited to participate in MERIT’s workshop program. In addition to scheduled workshops, sessions can be designed or adapted as course-integrated instruction for specific classes, or scheduled as consultation for individuals, meetings, or groups. Consider scheduling one or more MERIT instruction sessions for your classes.
Desktop and Digital Media Tools
MERIT provides workshops on various desktop and digital media tools from Photoshop for newsletters to using Microsoft Office tools in the classroom.
Digital Storytelling
MERIT staff provide workshops on resources, tutorials, and instructional materials to help instructors and students design and create digital stories.
Information and Resources in Education
MERIT offers workshops on information and resources in education from finding and incorporating Native American content to personal privacy in the digital age.
Adopting and Using eLearning Tools
MERIT offers workshops on using eLearning tools from designing course websites to using concept map tools for teaching and learning.
Customized Course-Integrated Instruction
Course-integrated instruction will be scheduled at your convenience and tailored to the content needs of your class, meeting, or group.
